The conference features national and international experts and:

  • Provides an outstanding national forum to review how to improve antimicrobial drug stewardship in animals in Canada
  • Broadens the discussion of reducing antimicrobial resistance from agriculture to non-agricultural animal use
  • Reviews progress on antimicrobial resistance and usage surveillance
  • Discusses federal and provincial regulatory initiatives on antimicrobial resistance
  • Analyzes improving understanding of optimal usage of antimicrobial drugs that minimizes resistance
  • Discusses infection control and biosecurity in reducing resistance spread
  • Identifies future directions for improving antimicrobial stewardship in agriculture and veterinary medicine in Canada This conference is designed for:
  • All users of antimicrobial drugs in animals: agricultural producers, veterinarians, nutritionists, and members of the animal health industry and the medical community
  • Policy makers; representatives of commodity groups, veterinary associations, regulatory agencies, processors and retailers
  • Others with an interest in resistance and in the sustainability of antimicrobial drugs: researchers, educators, agricultural extension staff, consultants and interested members of the public
